Smoke Free Housing In Waterloo Region
On April 1, 2010, Waterloo Region Housing and Region of Waterloo Community Housing Inc. became the first community-housing landlords in Ontario to implement a smoke-free policy on all new leases. In order to share our experiences with others, the Region in conjunction with the Propel Centre for Population Health Impact (at the University of Waterloo) created a short video that documents how the Region of Waterloo developed the smoke-free policy and what work has been done to evaluate its success.
Please see the attached letter, handout and video (this is the official Propel Centre video link >), Ready for Smoke-Free Housing: The Waterloo Region Community Housing Experience, to help answer questions housing landlords and property managers might have about enacting similar policies.
